Popcorn and a chaos, please.

So last night we tried to go to the movies with all 3 kids (translate:Toby) God will not be mocked... do not take a 19 month old to the movies.
He was rapt: completely fascinated by the first 20 minutes. And then, not so much. But the other adult in our party kept holding out hope that maybe he would settle down. We were down in a blaze of glory by 45 minutes. $23 shot to heck.

So the other adult and I rented a RedBox DVD (uno dollar!!) and put all the little people to bed. Much better plan. Well, not all the little people. Bean watched the movie with us.

You want movie reviews? All right, the clamor... it hurts my ears. The first 20 minutes of Rata-whatever were funny... the short film before it was awesome. Pixar. Macs. Awesome.

Richy rented Night at the Museum and I was all like nooooooooo.... Ben Stiller.... lame... gross jokes and just stupid humor. But nope. It was actually good. Good acting, of sorts, funny writing... I did win the bet that eventually he would have some sort of sticky substance all over his face because OBVIOUSLY somebody finds that funny as it is in every comedy. Message: if that's you laughing at somebody falling in paint/poo/shaving cream/syrup/soup.... stop it. It ain't funny. And maybe if we all band together and make some kind of Alliance against People Smashing Their Faces in Sticky Stuff, maybe we can make a difference. (Although a good pie in the face is still appropriate on ocassion)
I digress. And my Grammar Enthusiast probably has a headache from that paragraph. Nonetheless, I forge on.
It was a funny movie. I liked it.

The format of Ms. Smartypants' column will be changing this week to include only ONE question. She will choose the question from all those submitted, and will craft a column from her answer. You may submit questions from now until Sunday night, and the chosen question will be showcased Monday "morning".

Happy Friday!

Thank you well wishers.

I got a happy birthday text message from Jeremy at 8:03 AM. I wonder if he timed it or it was coincidence. Inquiring minds want to know. Perhaps I shall reply and ask.

Dear Ms Smarta Pants,

Why do mommies always want a break from their babies, and then miss their babies so much that they come back early and retrieve them?

Why do grandmothers arms ache for their grandbabies and then they count down the minutes till their parents pick them back up?

Ms. SmartyPants,

Can you pls give me some amazing advice as to how to lessen the pain for adjusting the following time changes for a crawling non-stop moving monkey, um, I mean baby boy:

-14 hours backward;
-3 hours forward;
-3 hours backward; and
-14 hours forward.

Thank you!

Sonia

Dear Ms Smartypants,
What is it that drives you to concoct such a plan as an advice column? Was it that your early childhood vision of being the 1st female president was dashed? Would you actually give up that dream to one HC?

Vote for Jess! Jess would be the best!

Amen.

Here are a few more questions for Ms. SP:

-How can I get my skinny preemie baby to start gaining weight instead of me?

-What happened to 2007? How can it be August already? While you are at it, can you please explain where 2006 went?

-What are the origins of "y'all" and if there is one more person, what do you way, "y'all y'all"?

-Does Ms. SP watch TV? What are your favorite shows apart from American Idol?

-What is the best way to get rid of hangnails forever? Oh also, how can I get rid of calluses on my feet forever?

I hope one of my questions get picked!

Sonia :)

Lovely day to you!

I haven't any questions of my own, but i am clamoring to see to which question, Jess will, with her great wisdom, give light.

Bad Thai cops to endure Kitty shame

1 hour, 59 minutes ago

Thai police officers who break rules will be forced to wear hot pink armbands featuring "Hello Kitty," the Japanese icon of cute, as a mark of shame, a senior officer said Monday.

Police officers caught littering, parking in a prohibited area, or arriving late — among other misdemeanors — will be forced to stay in the division office and wear the armband all day, said Police Col. Pongpat Chayaphan. The officers won't wear the armband in public.

The striking armband features Hello Kitty sitting atop two hearts.

"Simple warnings no longer work. This new twist is expected to make them feel guilt and shame and prevent them from repeating the offense, no matter how minor," said Pongpat, acting chief of the Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok.

"(Hello) Kitty is a cute icon for young girls. It's not something macho police officers want covering their biceps," Pongpat said.

He said police caught breaking the law will be subject the same fines and penalties as any other members of the public.

"We want to make sure that we do not condone small offenses," Pongpat said, adding that the CSD believed that getting tough on petty misdemeanors would lead to fewer cases of more serious offenses including abuse of power and mistreatment of the public by police officers.

Hello Kitty, invented by Sanrio Co. in 1974, has been popular for years with children and young women. The celebrity cat adorns everything from diamond-studded jewelry, Fender guitars and digital cameras to lunch boxes, T-shirts and stationery.
