November 1st

It's November! Hooray! This year is rocketing past, and that's great
with me!
I have an ultrasound today... just a view from down under... probably
no pictures of the Tobester. And then I may turn the screws on the old
Board of Director to go order the carpet....
We should have this house completely finished in time for the Yablonski
Thanksgiving. And who knows what will happen there. Thanksgiving is
wilder than Christmas because at Christmas we have 3 activities.
Eating, singing and PRESENTS. At Thanksgiving we just have eating and
singing. Pretty much. There is pantomime, of sorts, dramatic
presentations and whatnot.
Next year we'll have a great crop of little people... Nini and R2, Kai
and Toby, and Shasbot Allen... so far. And the quads if they're born
yet. Babies change things. It's very interesting. Kai and Nini came to
the recording both nights and Kai seems to fit right in to the
Yablonski mold (God Help Us All if there is a mold). He does the baby
bobblehead big eyes and doesn't fall asleep until the volume has
exceeded decent levels....

Tomorrow is guy's day.... we'll see if they used up all their steam
last week...
Update in the afternoon. Later.

Goodmorning Jess,
I hope you get to see Toby while you are there today. If you do say hello for me!
I love the holidays!! Company, cooking, children, conversation and laughter. Snuggling in front of the fireplace with the grandbabies and sipping "Christmas" coffee. Telling stories using them as the characters. Cold weather!!! Yeah!!

When I think of yams I think of the canned kind. When you say sweet potatoes I think of the fresh kind.
Who is Mackensie Allen?

Georgia said...

So Terri and I see it totally opposite I guess.

Georgia said...

Anybody ever had pumpkin cheesecake?

Georgia said...

Teachers! They always leave for lunch early.

Mom used to have a christmas cookie bake off for the kids. They would make cookies like Christmas eve or so then they would decorate the cookies and Dad would judge. They loved it. I guess since our only little kids are R2 and Nini and Kai, she hasnt been able to do it. Maybe this year with R2 and Nini and lots of help she could do it.

I love thanksgiving too. It is my favorite holiday. It doesnt have the pressure that Christmas does and its fun. We have lots of skits and performances and a big music jam with all the men. They all play in one band or another, but not together. So the holidays they play together, its real nice.

I would like to try pumpkin cheesecake. Maybe Katie or Jennifer has a recipe, Do you Katie?

Georgia said...

I want to try that Jenn, bring it to one of the potlucks so I can try it one time.

Georgia said...

Wow, Katie, you are so lucky. If he will make that for you. See if he can give out the recipe. I would like to make one. I hope he is not one of those cooks that dont share recipes.

Michael likes to make crumb cake for Christmas, but he and Jess have some kind of rivalry going on. If he makes it she gives out flyers to everyone saying the crumb cake has dangerous substances in it. If she makes it he insults it.

Georgia said...

He told her one year, that you DONT put blueberries in the crumb cake and so he fired her from making it for Christmas.

Georgia said...

Good, I will be looking forward to that recipe.

Georgia said...

Mom, you should take pictures at the cookie bake off. I bet my girls would help you. Then we could see the pictures on Christmas. Maybe Kai could have a little icing.

Georgia said...

Dump cake is the same as crumb cake I think, huh?

Georgia said...

That would be great, Madison might like it too. If she is home then.

Man, that would be a lot of fun, tell your Dad to get ready to perform for us. He has been itching to sing that Little feet song for someone.
If you'd be my dixie chicken,
Ill be your tennesee lamb
We will live together down in Dixie land.

That is Nate's kid no joke. He will be fitting right in. We will give him some turkey and dressing. He will sleep all night.

Georgia said...

Poor John, at least he gets to eat on Thanksgiving.

Georgia said...

Gotta go cook some lunch, Talk to yall later.

I love a good pumpkin pie, but have never had pumpkin pie cheesecake. Man, that would be great. Shannon should be making me some of the pumpkin pies soon that she made last year. Hint, hint. = )

At the diner we ate on Saturday, Shannon got eggnog pie for desert, it was really yummy! I waitress had made it and gave Shannon the recipe, so we should be seeing some around Thanksgiving and Christmas. . . and New Years, and Valentine’s Day, and Spring Break, and Easter, and Memorial Day, and Flag Day, and President’s Day. . yeah that will be enough.

i know i'm kinda late, and the sweet potato/yam discussion has long since been deserted (desserted?), but i'd like to set the record straight.

let's talk raw.

sweet potatoes are larger than yams.

yams are drier and less sweet, making them more ideal for pies, and less ideal for baking and eating with butter and cinnamon.

if you'd like to taste a yam, you should stop by "WHAT YAMS AM" on hwy 105. a man sits on the side of the road with a huge trailer full of yams and sells them. i got 5 for $1 the other day.

yams and sweet potatoes are full of vitamin A, which helps build your immune system, and beta carotene. they are also high in fiber.

i highly recommend them.
