hey, i just got an email from my mom, will y'all please pray with us. i'm going to copy it here (sorry for all the long posts today). "mormor" is my grandmother, my mom's mom.
p.s. see josh, i really do have an uncle soren....haha
Hey Beth,
Mormor has been in the hospital since Saturday night. Uncle Soren said that if they had waited any longer she probably would have had a stroke. She has congestive heart failure, which means that fluid builds up around the heart and lungs and it makes it hard to breathe. Apparently she has not been taking her blood pressure medicine for quite some time, and also they said she has diabetes, which she had not told me about. I don't know if she was supposed to take medicine for that too, and probably didn't. I talked to her yesterday, and she thinks she is just fine. Morfar doesn't really know what's going on either. He can't hear, for one thing, and he doesn't realize the seriousness of the situation. She is also anemic, which means that she is loosing blood somewhere. They have been giving her blood. She said she has tubes everywhere. There was a reason she wasn't thinking clearly when I talked to her last week. The problem is that she wants to go home, and of course she can't stay in the hospital for ever. But how are they going to take care of themselves?? I'm trying to get packed really fast so I can go out there and see what's going on. Tomorrow I have to go in for a colonoscopy to check and see what has been causing some pain and discomfort in my lower abdomen.
we NEVER let cats in our house...unless they dare to cross the threshhold...and then we chase and tempt them until we catch them and then gently ease them back outside...
we do feed our cats twice (or more) daily and start them out on cream cheese...
oh, KAT! speaking of Sing Sing keeping away snakes...
i had a patient several weeks ago who came in with a broken arm...and leg, i think... i can't remember the details exactly...geriatric patient who had fallen outside by her chicken house late one afternoon. she lived out somewhere close to grangerland on acreage. anyway, her daughter had just driven by and checked on her, and right after that ... she fell and couldn't get up. sooooo... she laid out there in the yard ALL NIGHT LONG... and she said that she prayed all night... and that her cats kept her safe all night from the snakes... they layed right there on her and kept her safe... i asked about ants...and she said she had just treated the yard recently for ants so they didn't bother her. she was probably in her 80's... still going strong...
anyway, telling you so you'll know how good cats are in this area to help ward off snakes...
(i think that's what happened to one of my little heros...not sure, though)
then again, i hear guinea hens are all about snake patrol....
reflux can be helped by putting the head of your bed higher than the foot... just propping a head and upper body on pillows actually does more harm than good because it puts more pressure on the stomach because you're bent more in the middle... you can put bricks under the head board or legs on the top portion of your bed so that you're on a slant...

Yo
The blog's a little slow this morning, so if you need some good reading like i did, i copied something for you. Some of these gave me a giggle.
Bloopers of children
Some bloopers of biblical proportions written by Sunday School students of both the Christian and Jewish persuasion:
In the first book of the bible, Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world, so he took the Sabbath off.
Adam & Eve were created from an apple tree.
Noah's wife was called Joan of Ark.
Noah built the ark, which the animals came on in pears.
Lot's wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night.
The Jews were a proud people and throughout history they had trouble with unsympathetic Genitals.
Sampson was a strongman who let himself be led astray by a jezebel like Delilah.
Sampson slated the Philistines with the axe of apostles.
Moses led the Hebrews to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients.
The Egyptians were all drowned in the dessert.
Afterward, Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the Ten Amendments.
The first commandment was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple.
The Fifth Commandment is humor thy mother and father.
The Seventh Commandment is thou shalt not admit adultery.
Moses died before he ever reached the UK. Then, Joshua led the Hebrews in the Battle of Geritol.
The greatest miracle in the Bible is when Joshua told his son to stand still and he obeyed him.
David was a Hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fought with the Finkelsteins, a race of people who lived in the biblical times.
Solomon, one of David's sons, has 300 wives and 700 porcupines.
When Mary heard that she was the Mother of Jesus, she sang the Magna Carta.
When the three wise guys from the East Side arrived, they found Jesus and the manager.
Jesus was born because Mary had an emaculate contraption.
St. John, the Blacksmith, dumped water on his head.
Jesus enunciated the Golden Rule, which says to do one to others before they do one to you.
He also explained, "Man doth not live by sweat alone."
The people who followed the Lord were called the 12 decibels.
The epistles were the wives of the apostles.
One of the opossums was St. Matthew, who was by profession a taximan.
St. Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.
A Christian should have only one wife. This is called monotony.

So, that's the news.
Pray, please.
Love, Mom
oh, and the reason mom has to get packed really fast is that she's in the middle of moving....not like she can't pack her clothes that fast. =)
