random friday musings

Well, I made Toby stay awake last night until 10... made him skip his evening nap to my own hurt... and gained 5 extra minutes... 6:23 a.m., folks.

Interesting topic MPC addressed...eating at home. The thing is, when I feel good I love to cook. I make up all kind of things. The problem is, everything moves so fast,,, sometimes there's not time to thaw and cut and bake and so forth... you know? Life just goes screeching by and if you don't grab a burger, you go hungry. Seems that way, anyway.

I thouroughly enjoyed Target yesterday. Christmas has begun.

Ah, and a new baby week... hope I start getting fat soon. Sheesh.

Week Fifteen

•You may begin to feel some fluttering movements as baby kicks, flails, twists and turns (but don't panic if you don't yet). She can also grasp, squint, frown, grimace and maybe suck her thumb!

•Your baby's legs have grown longer than the arms and the body is now longer than the head.

•And you'll be happy to note that he is moving those arms and legs often!

•His skin is very thin -- so thin blood vessel are visible. It's covered by a fine, soft layer of hair called lanugo. Lanugo comes from a Latin word meaning "down." This hair is thought to help insulate your little boy.

•The three tiny bones in his middle ear have begun to harden. The auditory centers in your baby's brain haven't developed yet, so she might not really understand what you say but her hearing capacity is in the process of developing.

•Fingernails and toenails are growing.

•Eyebrows are beginning to grow and even the hair his head is sprouting. It will probably change color and texture after birth.

•All this and your little one is an amazing 3.98 inches (10.1cm) long and may weigh 2.47 ounces (70gm).

It's Friday, looking forward to the weekend. We got on the old dinner train on Sunday.

We can go a couple months in a row only eating out 2 times the whole month, then we go out like 3 times in a week cause of busyness. Mostly though, we hadly eat out. I do most of the dinner cooking.

Napalm- go for bald and beautiful!

Hi All!

Since I've been staying home, we have gradually reduced the # of times we eat out. We used to eat out daily when we first got married. Most of our double income went to local restaurants. I think about how much we used to spend on eating out and think “If we could've just put half of it back in savings, we could’ve paid off this or that bill!”.

Now - $ is tight & we make dinner almost every night lately. Sometimes Mark cooks – he’s actually a really good cook! My goal is to have dinner at least started when Mark gets home. It's not very exciting -- still learning how to do the whole budget shopping/ cooking thing. For me, the hardest part is just DECIDING what to cook.

Heard on KSBJ that yesterday was National Guys Cook Dinner day (or something like that). But we missed it. All the ladies in my home group cooked last night. The men watched kids and talked about...men stuff. It was a good trade off -- and very yummy breakfast-for-dinner food!

I think the KSBJ morning show DJs decided to reschedule an unofficial Guys Cook Dinner Day because they missed it. Works for me. =)

Speaking of food:

Low carb diets really go against the grain.

The diet industry enjoys a heavy bottom line.

and

There is a growing body of obesity research.

Let me see if I can remember how I used to cook while I was still a stay-at-home mom and wife...

hmmm....

breakfast - cereal and milk

snack - juice and crackers

lunch - lizzard lips and
gizzard hips and
tastety toenail pies

snack - cereal and milk

supper - some sort of casserole
that included
vegetables in it...

or... spaghetti and meatsauce...
or meat and potatoes
and veggies

we hardly ever ate bread, unless it was a peanut butter sandwich for lunch... or cinnnamon toast for breakfast or latenight snack...

oh, and then for a bedtime snack... it was cereal and milk again...

that seemed to be a staple in our home....

i just tried to have apples and oranges and whole grain cereals and cheeses... and would have the refrigerator open for whoever was hungry...

the kids have done great...

it's the mama that shoulda had a lock on the refrigerator :-)

Mama PC said...

lizzard lips were pickles cut into pieces and placed artistically onto the paper plate...

gizzard hips were hot dogs or lunch meats, cut into small pieces and placed artistically on the paper plate...

cheese was arranged delicately in strips to accent the artful display of the meats and pickle pieces...

pretzels might be placed perfectly on the plate as a textural interlude

raisins might stand in for some type of animal eye.... just to bring up a new topic....

my kids enjoyed their lunches when we would make them.... many times it was Papa JC who would make up the Mama's Soup Surprise plate full of toenail pie, pickle lips, and lizzard hips, etc...

oh, and beans and weinies was common on a lunch hour break at our house...

hmmm.... and grilled cheese sandwiches... and apple wedges...

Mama PC said...

one year, i bought cafeteria lunch trays in differing colors and we would serve our lunch meals on them... it made lunches fun!!!

Mama PC said...

ok - i have a lesson for all you younger moms...

what's the difference between cheese slices that you buy at the store???

Mama PC said...

you should be careful to buy

American Cheese Slices
not
American "Processed Cheese Food."

"Processed Cheese Food" is NOTHING but oils and chemicals...

at least the American Cheese Slices are truly cheese...

The Welfare and Child Nutrition people won't even allow Schools or Day Cares to serve "Processed Cheese Food"...or "Cheese Product"

"Cheese Food" is NOTHING!

You gotta buy and serve real Cheese

the preceding announcement was paid for by the American Cheese and Dairy Processors of America

we enjoyed it...

Thanks, Auntie PC ; )

..also many, well just about all sandwich meats have nitrates in them.. they are bad bad bad!

I found some at a place up here called Fred Meyer that has chicken & turkey sandwich slices without the nitrates.. cool & some are even organic, even cooler! Ya, I love organic, wouldn't eat in a field sprayed with pesticides, why would I want to eat stuff that has grown in it & soaked it up?

MMM, thanks God for all the good food you gave us on this earth! : )

Glad you like the movie, we haven't seen, maybe we oughtta : )

Josh......some people like ME!

Jess.....someitmes it might take a time or two for the Tobe to benifit from the lack of sleep and sleep in a tad....remember how it took more than one time of the late night bottle to get him to actually sllep through the nite?

Rob the child of his last 1 hour nap that he likes to take at 7p....and dont let him go down til after 9 ..

give it a few days of doing that and you will have adjusted his schedule...

it will pay off.....

Isa 55:11
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void ,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

You cannot be forgiven if you haven't repented......isnt that huge?

If you don't want to repent...then you really don't want to be forgiven.

If you are planning on doing it again in about a month or 3....
then why repent?

Repenting is NOT ever wanting to do it ever ever again and being broken and feeling a little bit of the horrible pain that you caused Daddy God...

Repenting is being deeply sorry and seeing sin as what it really is....ugly sin.

Viking Granny!!!! said...

No excuses........no rationalizing.

No softening it.....

Seeing it for the ugly thing that it is...

Seeing what it does....

How far it seperates us from HIM

Viking Granny!!!! said...

I can ask for forgiveness....and if I havent repented FIRST then He wont forgive me.

WOW!

I wanna be resting in Your Love
Daddy God above
Rooted and Grounded
Resting and Nesting
In Your Love!

There is no fear in Love
Perfect Love casts it out
Whoever fears has not seen clearly Your Love
This is how we know Love
You laid down your life for us
Lord I believe and I receive Your Love....

WORD OF GOD

God's word is the primary means by which He is present and working in the world. He is not Himself part of this world, but He acts in it by means of His word. He becomes personally known through His word (1 Sam 3:21). His word is powerfully creative (Ezek 37:4) and its purposes are irresistible (Isa 55:11; Jer 23:29). God's word is totally dependable; it represents His permanent commitment (Isa 40:8). When heard and responded to, His word meets deep needs in the human heart and provides joy, satisfaction, and confident direction which can be achieved in no other manner (Deut 8:3; Ps 119:162; Jer 15:16). God's word has the power to penetrate all pretense and discern "the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb 4:12).

God is so kewl......His word is so alive......it is so wonderful how He gently loves and corrects and speaks.......He never condemns..

My flesh wants to dwell on how big of a mistake I made and how everything is my fault as far as any problems any of my offspring , married into family offspring, or grand offspring, may have now or in the future have, or be struggling with...

As soon as I realize that God revealed something to me.......and I move on.......the enemy whispers in my ear....how horrible I am and what a terrible mother, mother in law, grandmamama.....etc...
and the funny thing is....that as soon as I hear those whispers..
I have moved on past listening to God and into some old pattern of condemming myself.......

It is very exciting.....I know that God is speaking very clearly and my confiormation is the attack I experience afterwards!

Growing up and knowing who I am in Christ and walking in His LOVE is annoying to the enemy and a threat.

God is with me........He is right beside me and HE is physically here.

He makes me aware of HIS presence while HE shows me things I need to remember and repent for....so that I can move on.

Nothing condeming....no place to dwell longer than God wants me to.

He does NOT beat us up.......He loves His precious little children and I AM HIS FAVORITE ONE so..it is safe.....

He is so kewl......and loving and He has been visiting with me all night the last two nights..

I just love HIM ! He reveals HIMSELF and then He sticks around to make sure you get it..

He gives us exactly what we need to grow closer to HIM>

He will accomplish HIS means by the least severe method....He knows exactly what it is going to take.

By the least severe means.

He is so AWESOME!
