Well, it's a blessing, really. For us, anyway. No real damage and it
looks like not a lot of power loss, etc... although Beaumont looks
pretty rough.
Poor Houston reporters. They keep showing where a lamppost fell down,
or a big branch that fell. They wanted a disaster real bad.
Over here at the Nelson house:
mama and bobby and richy are watching the news, (i think they're hoping
this thing will turn around and knock down some trees)
richy II is having some waffles and jelly. Mostly jelly.
Anila is having repeated crises. First she put on an extra pair of
panties and both legs were in one hole around her ankles and she could
hardly walk. Grandma to the rescue. Then she couldn't find her
stroller... There's been 2 or 3 since then but Leah just laughs so I
don't know what's going on in there.
hang on I have to check on Geraldo.
Ok he's ok. The front doors blew right off the Holiday Inn where he was
sleeping in the lobby... dang
Nate: back to the birthing center to gather belongings
Leah and Kai (still in utero) are trying to catch a little shuteye.
easier said than done around here.
and Toby and I are having a quiet morning... watching TV then taking a
little rest.

I decided that hurricane (if you want to call it that) Rita, was slow and boring. At least around here. I wanted it to go away pretty bad, as we were avoiding poweroutages. Then when it was gone, I felt dissapointed because we were looking forward to some knocked down trees or something. Sometimes you don't know that you love something until its gone. Jess has been doing great the last 24+ hours. We are planning on going home in an hour or so - Richy
well, due to hurricane rita, we've got wet carpet in lindsey's room and mom's bathroom, and a rubber chicken stuck to our front window.
the wet carpet was not, however, caused by leakage from a gaping hole in the roof, nor was it the result of rain water pouring through a window that had been smashed by a "missile". there is not a tree limb jutting through the wall, or any such exciting thing.
lindsey, with wonderful intentions, was filling the bathtubs up in preparation for a power outage... she forgot to turn the water off...
and as for the rubber chicken, well... dad made lovely silver colored star-shaped targets on our windows, so the ducks would know where to hit when the wind picked them up and threw them at the house... we were kinda disappointed when they stayed firmly on the ground, so dad thought we needed to have SOME excitement... so he threw a rubber chicken at the window, and there it stays...
han... that's so funny... glad y'all got a little excitement.
we're home now. there was a dead roach in the living room.... no other changes.
"Wello, dern!maybe nes' year we could git rselves blowed away!"(Tig)
Lights just came on at the Shelter.
Happy Grateful people running around the house.
My shed is gone, but the house is fine.
All is well.
What a good lookin picture of Big Richy...........
And Jess, you and yo SIS are so so cute!
i think we'll just hang out here until everybody's power is back on.
of course, tomorrow is a Ganza so there will have to be a new blog for that!
We had a pretty bad storm. It seemed to hit here pretty good. It is still not opening up around here yet. Kroger will open today for 9 hours, but that is the only grocery store going to be open. 2 gas stations are running, there are long lines for those. They called Mikey in to work at 9, but they werent going to open until 12. I drove by the drive thru at 11 and the line was all the way almost to 1960. There didnt seem to be a lot of damage, but we didnt get power until late last night. We were sure sick of sandwiches. I managed to get some boxed tuna casserole and some boxed potatoes for lunch. Man, that stuff tasted real good after 3 days of sandwiches. Oh, the 99 cent store is open
I bet Josh missed us.
yay georgia you're back!
I love this description of Kai's character. This sounds like Dad's grankid big time.
Baby Kai, being no fool, and a preborn certified Yablonski himself, took this opportunity to cease his efforts and take a nice long snooze until it was all over. Leaving a large group of moms, dads and midwives and us to spend the evening together at the birthing center, discussing Lamaze techniques and watching the hurricane decide to go elsewhere.
I didnt drown!
Yall didnt lose power at Leah's house?
Hey guess what? I get to go home....YIPPEEE
I will be leaving here about 3:30 today and I am off to rest all day tomorrow.
Walmart and Sams are open and they have GAS>
Lots of Gas stations opened but the lines are long.
Sams has no line for some reason.
I hope my shed is the only thing I lost.
I thank God that it was my shed and not my house.
we didn't lose power here or at leah's.... maybe it was the man of Faith...
We lost power in my subdivision and at the shelter.
Jeg elsker dig........I am leaving and I have alot to do yet.
Call me if you need me.
:0)
Go,Rita Go!(away!)le tigre
Poor Leah.
I always hated this part. You are so miserable and all you want to do is get this baby out of your body and everyone around you keeps on saying the same dumb things.
How are you feeling?
Any day now..
Are you having any contractions yet?
( I hate this one) You are about to pop.
WHEN are you due?
Are you sure you should be..
at the supermarket
driving
doing modified pilates
walking
Can you breathe with that?
Nightmare On Swollen Feet
I love that scene I remembered from reading "Cheaper By the Dozen" The mother has been telling the little girl to stop biting her fingernails. She tells her that if you dont stop biting them and eating them, that they will form a big ball in your stomach. So one day the little girl is walking down the street and she sees a pregnant woman. She walks up to her belly and points her finger and says" I know what you have been doing"
As usual Sundays and after 5 I end up talking to myself. This would be a great place to form an alter ego. There are some here who have been accused of doing that very thing. Just so they can have someone to talk to. Michael could get a lot of business here.
This would be the place to practice if you were identity-challenged as the PC people would call it.
Identity challenged
Mentally unsure
Drivers license inadequate
In a good place to form new self-images
Having your brain waves refocused
Bi-thinker
Having your conciousness re-calibrated
Putting your cerebral chemicals in order
Letting your psyche come in tune with your true place of existence
Becoming yourself
Getting to a place where others can know the certainty of you
Taking the looseness out of your life and letting it free to go on somewhere else.
I know why no one is saying anything. Everyone is getting what me and Mike refer to as the "Holy Nap." Sundays right after lunch after church ALL Christians are bound to the Holy Nap.
it's sort of like a church law. If you were to miss the nap, you feel off-center all week. If you refuse to take the nap something inside kind of tugs at you all day.
Hey, man, your holy nap time...
You are going to be tired...
How are you going to work all day this week without obeying the bible?
( you think its in the bible but its not, just church laws)
And you keep asking yourself, Why do I HAVE to take this nap?
Case in point.
Have you ever seen a Christian man watch football after church?
What happens?
Nap. everytime.
Most kids do the really crazy stuff they do on Sunday afternoon. Why? Cause the parents are napping.
You would think church was exhausting!
bi thinker... hee hee hee
i do not participate in the Holy Nap. it is sacred around here... and I always hated it on sunday after you go out to eat then you have to rush home and sleep
it's easier to handle now that i lay in this bed all day
mama
i can say for one that i don't want no consciousness of you, either. or your calibration
Too, I would hate to have to chase Mom's psyche around after she let it go.
See you tomorrow guys.
Here is something for yall with little kids or who know about little kids.
Bite not, lest you be cast into quiet time.
