terri - speaking of car repairs.....

SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT!

Man, I appreciate those folk that truly understand the innerworkings of a vehicle.......especially a used vehicle.......

Lindsey's headlamp went out again (for the 4th time in 2 years) and John decided to replace it this time. I think the past 2-3 times it's been Daniel or Jacob M who have fixed it.....anyway...... when JOhn started to replace the bubb - he realized that there was a little part missing off of the assembly to hold the thing in place! So, that must by why the bubbs keep burning out. They're been jostled and tossled for 50,000 up and down I45! Anyway...

John worked for several hours, taking the whole huge light assembly thing out of the car and bringing it into the house onto the kitchen! table and worked and worked to try to find a part from all of his 25+ years of parts collecting to fix it. Noooo, he wasn't going to go into town to buy the appropriate part..... it was too small a thing...and SOMETHING was gonna work......

after several hours...... he proudly showed me his solution. There, in the light assembly perched a small safety pin, with the little end circle doomaflaugit...serving quite well as the needed part to hold the little bolt in place...to hold the light bubb in place......

(I like the word "light bubb"... it reminds me of my grandmother.....)

Needless to say, I was proud of Papa JC. He's a genious!

(I talk this much when I woke up at 4:25 after going to bed at 11:45 and being awakened around 2:30 by some odd noise......)

Good night to all....

mamapc, that's amazin persistence on the headlamp. I am learning to be confident in these people that can "make a part" work. Very resourceful!

viking granny,

Gmail is up and running again. They have added a chat feature to their service, so they may have been down a little bit while they were getting it up and running.

Elements -

Living in the country has its advantages....

And disadvantages... Yes, sometimes the septic causes problems, or a varmit chews through the phone line... yes, there are strange animals that sometimes bless with their presence... Yes, the driving back and forth is the worst part, I think... but the good things are... you can go outside and feel the peace enveloping you in the quietness of country living. yes, you might hear a large bird call, or a chicken sqwawk... you might hear cats wailing at night or a multitude of dogs communicating at undogly hours... yes, occasionally you'll hear a far away neighbor's honky-tonk-like party going on til 2 a.m. but for the most part, you hear sounds that are pleasing and feel breezes unfelt in the city.

In the country you can watch ducks floating gracefully on the pond and hear a thousand birds calling love songs to their special mate...

In the country you can hear the wind blowing through the pine and oaks, whispering of the greatness of God.

In the country you can sit in the sun and feel the warmth of God if you'll just take the time to do so.

In the country you can actually see the curves of the earth unobscured by man's concrete creations.

Many times I'd like to move IN for the convenience, but am content to stay OUT for the benefits to spirit and soul being "in the country with the elements"...

good morning....
