Every guy loves a good light saber dual, complete with someone dieing at the end.

Check this one out. Very cool!

woww....that was really good! It's unfair what the actual big city kids learn. But uh...I can drive a stick!

slow guys day...

what is

the best war movie

of all time, and why?

old, new...whatever

Explain and defend your position in a medium length essay....just kidding...don't do that. TOo many finals this week. No Mas

Nate said...

braveheart is definatly near the top of my list. Not my fav. though. What is SPR?

Nate said...

ah...now that IS a good movie. I still really like the old war movies. Although the fighting may be tons more realistic now, the older movies just have so much more appeal to me.

Nate said...

not for another 25 minutes

where's all the "brutal teacher" stories

BethC said...

or brutal teacher war movies

Tora tora tora was GOOD. The Dirty Dozen will always be a classic. In my opinion war movies are made by their historical accuracy and storyline, not by cool effects, bad words, guts or explosions. That stuff is just shock value, and leaves the viewer with a lack of substance. Like Black Hawk Down, there was minimal storyline, all it did was portray an event in history. Thats called a documentary, and those are much more entertaining than that movie. Now I must admit, there was some "honor" portrayed. I liked that alot, how they got the point of comraderie and honor in the Armed Forces accross. But as far as a good movie, special effects, guts and explosions is all it had to offer.

careful women..you must stay on topic!!!

Platoon was made in the 80s..it wasn't too bad. It was more an anti-war movie though. Similar to Full Metal Jacket. I dont' really like the protest movies, they seem to be the kind that over do everything. People don't need to see how terrible war is, but there is a lighter side of war. One of honor, and glory and cameraderie. Of skill and discipline and bearing. I think the military is a beautiful thing. I saw a marine corps graduation in San Diego. Wow, when the grunts get their last command from their drill instructors. "Fall out" one big snap of a step backwards with an "aye aye sir" "hoo rah"...dang...that will make you cry. Makes you proud to be an American. TAPS when played well will make me cry anytime. Don't get me wrong, war is not good. But it is neccesary.
Football...eh...football movies are ok. REmember the Titans was great. Most football movies are so so at best.

As long as were one the topic of not so war movies but still war movies. Star Wars/STar Trek....awesome. I'm definatly a geek too, so, ya...definatly good.
BUT!!! There is no competition with The Last STarfighter..the movie..not the band(although they're good too)I just love that movie!

Nate said...

I've seen the chick flicks too...I likem. You've Got Mail is my fav.

men of honor was great! Well, I saw it on TV, so it was edited for words and stuff. I forgot about that one, definatly an awesome movie.

Nate said...

ok...gotta go take my final...then i'm done!!!

cheerleaders...I was friends with some...but I sure didn't like the rest. Talk about all being EXACTLY the same. Dress, act, talk...the same. Caney Creek was really bad about the "popular" kids. No one really liked them. But it was impossible to get anyone other than my little brother to think outside the box. No, a cheerleader and football player do NOT have to be the only ones on the homecoming roster. Or prom, or anything else. It was really really ridiculous. Everyone knew them, and called them "popular" but they were only friends with their little circle. But somehow they always got elected to the class officers, NHS, Prom king/queen, homecoming king/queen...eh...highschool is over. Just a stupid point in life where people think they know everything. Its funny to look at my little brother and his friends(who are seniors) and they think they have life under controll. I graduated two years ago on june 1st. Just in that time I've realized that country music is lame, and that highschool doesn't really mean anything outside of MTV. But...life is good...finals are over...and there's food calling my name in the kitchen.

sorry for the long rant.

isn't the anticipation of getting a package fun? I'll be getting some stuff from fedex here pretty soon...it's few and far between when I get mail or packages...it makes me happy

Don and I were invited to go to Albuquerque to a movie and after driving for 2.5 hrs. to see it found out we were watching "The Thin Red Line" . It's supposed to be a very accurate movie but I had to leave. I cried so hard I couldn't see it and the language was horrible. My favorite war movie is Sergeant York. Has been my favorite for years.

Nate said...

I haven't seen Sergeant York yet, but my Ma tells me its the best! Thin Red Line was a good story, not a good movie. Big Red One was excellent. It had David Carradine and Luke Skywalker actor guy. That movie had EVERYONE in it. Really good movie if you're a history buff, which I am. Especially of that era. Really from the turn of the century through the mid 70's was fascinating to me...but WWII was definatly my favorite time. Just the 40s in general...great times

jess said...

no no no
Kat or Chris- going tonight.
I want an elliott/taylor finale but it's too much to ask
TAYLOR WHOOOO

Nate said...

my my, it seems someone is excited about American Idol.

I dont' see what is appealing about this show at all. But, since we seem to have some AI junkies here...lets hear it! What do you like about AI that keeps you so enraptured with it?

Josh said...

It’s because they have many idols in their life, the “American Idol” is just another one of them!

Just kidding with you, I couldn't resist. I too have absolutely no interest in the show either.

jess said...

I was never into AI before... I maybe saw one or two episodes
But this season, I watched the auditions and the most amazing guy is on there...
he's like Elvis and Ray Charles .... mixed or something

He's a spazz and he's southern and blues and just fun... So, yeah. this season I'm hooked because of Taylor Hicks.

jess said...

very funny Josh.
IF i have an idol, and I don't ... but it would be closer to chocolate than AI

video of Taylor Hicks

Josh said...

And that chocolate idol would be in the form of a huge bunny, right?

Guess what song is now stuck in my head.

The bunny, the bunny, ooo I love the bunny.
I don’t have money, but I have the bunny.
The bunny, the bunny, ooo I love the bunny. . .

Josh said...

Yo blog was broke fo two hours.

Mama PC said...

i really don't like AI either... i don't like the fact that so many Americans are caught up with IDOLS...

but, i've watched it off and on to see what all the spazz is about... several nurses my age are HOOKED on it...and talk about it at work, so i don't want to be in the dark about it...and wondered what all the SPAZZ is about...

the people aren't really all that good, are they? come on!

and i DON'T get it what everyone sees in that Taylor guy, if I'm thinking of the one that is kinda pudgy and has graying hair... he's missing something...and i think it's part of his soul!!!

Josh said...

I have actually never seen a single episode of any “reality show”, not a single one. Oh wait, other than 3 or 4 of. . . um. . . what’s it called? The home renovating one with Ty whatshisname. But, that’s it.

Mama PC said...

do you all really SEE an IDOL in this Hicks guy?

hmmm - who else is there to choose from???

Mama PC said...

i saw a fragment of a few episodes of that "reality" (ha!) FAT PEOPLE show where they were supposed to be losing weight...exercising... THAT IS RIDICULOUS.... it's all organized and planned and such...

and a bit of a few of those dating shows!!! What is THAT ABOUT!!! PRACTICING FOR DIVORCE!!!

I HATE REALITY SHOWS!!!

Real life is too real to go looking for it on TEE VEE!

Now, CSI... or detective shows are more like it in my book! As long as they aren't filled with lewdness.

Josh said...

Well, there is always Daniel.

Mama PC said...

Jess - are you serious about Taylor Hicks!!!???

ok, maybe i'm missing something...

Mama PC said...

is Chris still IN?

if he is, and if anyone has be be selected as the best, i would vote for him...

Mama PC said...

does it come down to a final TWO? OR final ONE?

Mama PC said...

i don't see Taylor as "real". i "sense" he is hiding something...like he's not really being himself...

how weird is that.???

Mama PC said...

i vote for DANIEL!

Mama PC said...

OK, I just read on the net that there ARE four left, Chris D being one of them... and I believe that that guy will win. I haven't heard him sing since the first week or so... but, all in all, I think he has the best overall package...

but, I'm not into A.I.

"- )
"-

jess said...

I have watched every episode this season... this will be my first and last show to watch start to finish... and Chris is a good singer, but like most rock musicians today, not a great entertainer. Nice to listen to on the radio, maybe...
Taylor is a Terrific singer as well as funny and entertaining.... every week he gets the crowd on their feet... so, yep, I'm serious... he's excellent

the name is annoying... I don't like calling people Idols...

and that is the end of my AI opinions.... thank ya thank ya verr much

Nate said...

you shall put no other gods before the Lord. The name is real, it has America entrapt and decieved.

Mama PC said...

so, if these people who WIN the IDOL title each week are VOTED on by ONLY the people who are watching it faithfully...... then THAT tells you something...

those who don't take IDOL seriously don't watch it, and don't vote... so that leaves the voters coming from a specific crowd of people.....

well, I thought Chris was the most talented vocally... and had a recognizable true-ness in his personality... no, he didn't gyrate like the others...

oh well, i shouldn't say anything else. thanks for letting me speak my mind... (like you had a choice)

Mama PC said...

what was it that Simon said to Chris tonight - something like "you are the only one who stayed true to your convictions..." or something like that??? what was that all about?

Mama PC said...

we're still planning on going to Wf, but obstacles are coming our way. Pray for wisdom and direction and peace about whether or not we are supposed to even GO to WF on Fri.

g'night all...

jess said...

ehhh... I hate discussing stuff like this, because everybody has their own opinions.... and mine is right

just kidding....

but anyhoo
will pray re: your trip MPC
4 days left to eat cookies before the fast

Josh said...

dare i say? certainly it can't be!
BUT COULD I POSSIBLY BE "LSAT"??!!

Josh said...

Being in Pacific Time, I do have the lsat advantage, but I am way underadvantaged on being frist in the morning. If we need to be in the same time zone, well . . I know a good relator here. let me know when you'll be moving and I'll give you his name.

LSAT

Nate said...

oh gosh..I got caught up in watching Mythbusters...I missed it! but, I can claim frist I suppose. Good Guy's Day
