You know, the whole Andrea Yates thing is a hot topic... people cannot really be passive about it.
Look at your perspective, it will color your opinion. As a planning to be homeschooling hopefully mother of many, it does bother me when that is the "reason" for her insanity. Of course there are always spiritual things involved... and the tragedy of the lives lost is so horrific.
Here on my blog, I usually keep things light. I have grieved for so long that I wanted a place to laugh.
Now, I am starting to watch and think and reason again. So sometimes I will open topics like this, and welcome the debate. I am not threatened by opinions. Have at 'em. If I feel like a comment is inappropriate, I will delete it. I have deleted comments maybe 3 times in my year here.

I don't expect everyone to be perfect in here. That would be pretty boring. So, yeah, I feel this way and you feel that way. The fact is, it's all opinion. None of us were there, none of us know what went down. So it's speculation based on media reports. God help us. :)

I love all the bloggerati. Blog on.

Jess, couldn't agree more. But, there is a line between offering opinion and making a judgement. I'm just cautioning fellow bloggers to think about their own comments before posting!

all bloggers
and supern8 specifically
though names haven't really been mentioned. i hoped that i did not offend.
i offer no judgment re andrea yates except that i think that she is a powerful example of what can happen in peoples' lives and society if we continue with the conceptions we have right now.
many of my opinions come from quietly watching people who i care deeply about who have been convinced that their problems are solely physical or chemical and that they can't do anything about it except take medicine.
and in my quiet observation, i have found that the medication rarely solves anything. it sometimes numbs.
it often leaves deep woundedness un-dealth-with and creates opportunity for greater "dysfunction" at a later date.
i have cried many tears over this wrong and the blindness that is perpetuated by blind doctors and blind psychologists who have no concept of the power of God.
i have no problem at all with the idea of a chemical imbalance.
1. God heals the body...including the brain.
2. The body exhibits spiritual issues in almost every instance.

We do not have to be held captive to man's solutions.

That is all.

If i offended anyone, please hear my heart and forgive me.

I do feel that this is truth that needs to be recognized....so that there may be freedom.

p.s. jess grooves!

Andrea Yates......

Yip....I wasn't there....Don't have a clue...

From my own life's experience, and being surrounded for 3 plus years at the "Shelter", it seems pretty obvious, but I do not know all the facts...ONLY God does.

I do however know that all 5 of those babies are fine NOW...in heaven.

It is a very very sad situation.

If you are emotionally unstable, living in an abusive situation, hormonal, stressed out, doing everything alone without any help....overworked and underpaid, meeting the needs of 5 small children....never getting a break, continual extra demands placed on top of already unrealistic demands....demonic activity....

No God NO peace....

Maybe she should have cried out and demanded HELP....maybe she felt like she should be able to do it all, so something is wrong with HER.

Maybe she never got her hormones level out between each birth...

Maybe she just couldn't see clearly.

Know God Know Peace.........

Maybe Viking Grannys life experiences have been so powerful that they have influenced the way in which she views the entire world.

I think that I have simply expressed my oppinions but If I have offended ANYONE....please forgive me.

I feel very strongly about the Yates case....and I haven't worked it out in my heart....but it reaches deep to my core....

I do not want to cause anyone any grief or hurt anyone .......ever, or cause anyone else to stumble or fall.

I believe that Andrea loved her babies. What happened was horrible and God knows her heart.

Ditto on the Yates issue. I know how I feel about mental illnesses over all, but when it comes down to it, only God really knows all things. No attorney, court, interrogation session, or person can figure it ALL out.

I remember when I first heard about what she did, while we were still in TX. My heart was very heavy for days, just wondering how a person could do such a thing. Now, it’s even more personal, having a child and just thinking what state your mind would have to be in to pull that off only one time, let alone five times back to back.

I do have an overall problem with so many cases ending in “not guilty my reason of temporary insanity,” but again, only God knows all things and who’s is using it as a life line.

God have mercy on Andrea Yates.

And yes, we have laughed much on this blog, which has been great.

Those that are newer to the blog should go back and read some from the September – December timeframe. That’s when I remember the most laughs.

i love all of you blog heads... each and every one.... and i want you to know how special you are to me... thank you jesh for starting this blog - it's been a source of community for me in a real sense - it's where i can be real and talk on and on...and no one tells me to be quiet.... and no one rejects me or my ideas... or, if they do, i know that they love me... and i know that if the whole earth shuts down, i could somehow rewire my computer and get back in touch with you all and find out how you're dealing with it on the other side of the screen....

and, if the wires wouldn't reconnect, just knowing the bits of your lives and personalities could cause me to smile, just knowing what you would say about it....

yes, josh - you'd be joshing....

glad for the forums - and the window into your lives.... thanks for being gentle and loving toward me in mine...

i love you all....

each new mom (or mother of small children) needs to have a "mother" that can be aware and involved...and mother the mother....

that's what i was missing back in the 80's when mine were little...

my husband did not know what to do with me.... he had no idea... he just became more passive... he DID help with things some...and he loved his babies.... but, he was caught up....in his life.....

if any of you EVER need "mothering", i want to help / at least be a sounding board.

i just needed someone to come over and watch the babies so i could take a nap!

i needed someone to tell me it was okay not to go to every church service (3-4 a week)

i needed someone to help me with the dishes and laundry

i truly needed someone to take me to the doctor when i was having serious physical symptoms...cause my husband just had NO CLUE! and i didn't know how to ask for help at the time...

i needed someone to help me laugh and give me permission to cry

i needed someone to love my babies when i could not...

i needed someone to tell me to go to bed...

(oh... i guess that's a word to me now.... so, yes, mama pc, i'll go to bed....

Have you all heard of the National Identification Number Act that Bush signed on May 11, 2005?

They have only three years to enforce it, which means that we are all suppossed to have this new number by May 11, 2008.

How is that for a new subject to discuss?

Mama PC said...

that IS a new subject...

ooooo

fever is down to approx 99... just enough to keep me on the couch or bed...

Josh said...

MPC- So sorry that you had a high fever, and sorry that your younger years were very hard. I praise the Lord that things are different for you and your family now, and that God has done a great work in John and all of you!

VKG- It’s actually called the Real ID Act, and you can read about it here. I don’t see any problems with it. It is just for standardization of drivers license, and all states sharing driving records with the other states. I didn’t read the whole page in depth, but from what I read, I don’t have any problems with it.

Viking Granny!!!! said...

From what I understand, you wont be able to get a drivers license without it or a passport ect.

I see this as the ground work for the dreaded MARK......

Everyone having a new number.. evolving into not being able to trade or buy, people not wanting to loose their number, so they implant it....ect...you know the scenerio...

It is very fascinating to see it play out...

God will take care of all of us. Maybe manna from heaven, maybe lobster and caviar....

God makes provision..

I think that HE is teaching all of us to trust HIM and rely on HIM and stop looking to other things to fill the void that only HE can fill....

Trust is the big one....

Again...only my oppinion.

Josh said...

For my manna, I'll take PB&J and freash pineapple. . . I can live on that!

Josh said...

You will all take the mark, or else I will..um, uh... I mean... the devil will punish you.

It is going to be exciting to see what GOD does.

Will we all just miraculously never be hungry?

Will we find food as we need it?

Will our clothing just super-naturally last for years and never become worn?

so, this leads us to a discussion about pre-trib, mid-trib or post-trib.......................

i'm going to sleep (AGAIN)...

i have to go to work in the a.m. at 6! keep me in your prayers that i will be totally free of whatever this strange bug was that hit me so hard last night...

Father God, Daddy God, heal Your little princess....touch her Jesus.

Strengthen her body and cause it to all be as You created her to be.

Heal her and make her whole. Strengthen her and give her PEACE and Wisdom and a sound mind.

Thank you Daddy!~

Viking Granny!!!! said...

I want the rapture to happen BEFORE the tribulation.....
but somewhere in me, I feel that we will experience some of it, but that it will get worse after we have been raptured. So that would make me "mid-trib" but a "wannaB pre-trib"

learning styles are as vast as personalities. it is really just a starting point because everyone will be confronted with all these skills in an average week.
validation and recognition of interests, feelings and strengths work the best to pinpoint the prefered "style" of learning.
yes, there are many tests/screenings to guide in making a determination. I would be glad to assist homeschoolers (or publicschool) in this evaluation.
Does Casey want to go to public?
parent-involvement is the key either way. there's lots of good teachers; get referals and "interview" the school/teacher.

Viking Granny!!!! said...

fanastic..sounds great!

I klnow that we will experience some of it....

what about the scripture that says we will be caught up with Him?
