Well, today should be the day. Pray for Julie as she gets ready.... Tim just called and her contractions were already 6 minutes apart before the Pitocin!
It's guys day today ... next week I have a cool idea but I can't do it today because we women will have to discuss Jenna and such at some point. But here's the jist of it: next weds, ONLY guys will be permitted to post. If, by noon, they have not reached a predetermined number of posts (30, 50??) then we can come in and have a hen party. But if they DO reach the magic number, then we women can only "speak when spoken to..." that is, answer a question posed to us by a male.
But not today. Because we might have to talk about childbirth. But until then, we will discuss the topic suggested by Robert Clark. Rob?
I already posted this once so if that one shows up, ignore it.

Where is his post?
well, until rob suggests a topic- it's open season
so does everyone else see a post from Rob?
okay I see it now... I agree with Crystal- let her get out of the house!
and how does she feel about chocolate?
Good topic Rob.
Rob,
I myself do not like roses and my kids would beg me for it if I were to ever get one and I would probably give it to them. Thank you for letting me know how it made you feel when your wife did this. I will be more sensitive to my husband in the future. Also, I myself do not like roses, but I do like unique flowers that I do not know the names of and I like carnations. Maybe a flower that she has not had before would be more welcome. I know that they say the rose is the most romantic flower, but I don't know. I also agree with Crystal, send her out of the house or you may have her looking over your shoulder the whole time.
Although, for me, if Steve arranges a whole evening(or better yet whole day) out (including child care) and I can just enjoy his prescence, it can be much more romantic. Just being able to enjoy your husband's prescence without kids yelling or kids asking for things or having to make any decisions can be REALLY, REALLY, NICE.
i want roses...
we went out for the day... and I got some new clothes... it was a fun V Day
Time spent with you would be very rewarding. Although cleaning the house for her is nice, spending time together will strengthen your relationship.
Yeah, Kim... rob's comment gave me some "male" insight too.... it's helpful
any other guys?
Sounds like a good idea Rob, taking the day off and giving her a break. I agree with others that sending her somewhere would be great too, Steph seems like the kind of woman that would like that.
Also, for extra points, you could plan a SIMPLE candlelight dinner. I stopped by the florist on the way home yesterday and bought a single yellow rose (won’t buy a dozen cause they triple the price on V day), a couple scented candles, and four little 25 cent glass hearts they had. Then, I stopped by Dairy Queen and picked up a couple blizzards (they happened to have a Chocolate Cherry Love). I called Shannon from the drive way and told her to go in the bedroom. I stuck the blizzards in the freezer and hid the other stuff. Later, we cooked dinner together. It was nothing big, just spaghetti and steamed green beans that were already planned. When it had 5 minutes left I told her she was exiled to the bedroom. I put the rose in a vase on the table, lit the candles, put the hearts on the table (along with the remains of the box of Sweethearts someone at work gave to everyone), poured grape juice in our "wine" glasses, made the plates, turned out the lights, and went and got her. She was very happy and pleased.
All the stuff I bought was less than $20 dollars, but she doesn't care. As the others have said, it really is the thought that counts for most women. She thought it was very romantic and made her feel special, just because I planned something, that's it. . . nothing big, JUST SOMETHING.
that's sweet, you big gooshy Josh...
that sounded kinda sarcastic... actually it was an affectionate applause for my pal Josharoo
And, as other have also said, it is a process of learning to be romantic. I did something great yesterday, but don’t go thinking I’m perfect, I have failed too at times. Just as with striving to be perfect in godliness, learn from your wrong, repent, and stay committed to pressing on to perfection in romance. You’ll get there!
most excellent prophetic words this week & great wisdom on the blog today for marriages
blog administrator jess,
on the men's day quota of at least 50 comments: should be actual/real comment to count (no grunts or other onamotapia)
Rob - you're on the right track... Don't let her act of "giving the rose away" turn you away... from experience, some of us women want to know if you're serious... and sometimes the hurt ones will reject the first offerings...when in their (our) hearts....... we're crying out to know if you really really love us...... not for what we do for you...... but for who we are.....
Women want to know that their man love them for who they are.... not what we do.....
does that make sense?
my advice, is NOT to give another rose, especially since she said she doesn't LIKE roses... ask her what she likes... then get creative from there...
your day off gift to help with everything sounds wonderful..... but don't be surprised if she acts like she doesn't want it..... she's testing you, probably.....don't let her rejection of your acts of love push you away..... keep loving on her.....
sometimes hearts are slow warming back up....... especially the heart of a woman with 4 children...
you are created in the image of God and He's the ultimate LOVER... ask Him for wisdom, guidance and advice... He's got a storehouse full...
I agree beth... no one word or one letter comment blitzes
i got a text message from Papa JC and I'm happy about it....
there's a deeper meaning behind the fact.....
only he and I know that it was a deliberate act of love for him to even SEND me a text message... because
1) text messages cost extra on our phone set-up and he always tells us NOT to use text messaging as a family...
2) it took TIME away from his work which lets me know he was actually thinking of me when he's normally distracted by responsibility
3) and the topic of the message is for my eyes only... a secret missive between only us two...
So, by him sending a simple tex message.... it made me realize that he was putting our relationship before MONEY, RESPONSIBILITY and other things, which MEANS A LOT TO ME!!!
Women read a lot into things, you know.... just bare with us...
oops, did I say "bare"..... i meant "bear with us"
what WAS i thinking???
blush blush
Daniel, That was great! I cant stop laughing!
The fishing date! My favorite!
Bare with us. . . you obviously were still thinking about that text message that was “for your eyes only”.
Daniel!
Would you believe that Papa JC and I used to go fishing together!!!??? He'd read to me while I fished!!! He'd read to me from Transformation of the Inner Man and other such books... We had the time of our lives!!!
Ah, the sweet memories.....
Crystal- I will pull this off when we have kids, the laundry room outside is a good place for the kids to play for an evening. A little alone time with temps in the 30’s or 40’s builds character.
GEORIGISA?
I've missed you tremendously!!! Where have you been oh new friend of mine that i dno't even know!!???
but.... Papa JC and I are a different sort of couple.....
Lindsey's laughing about the part of "fishing with company" that Daniel mentioned.....
I just read her your post Daniel....and she really laughed a lot..... you are a real joy-bringer!!!
I think the fishing thing is much more up his alley.
make a bunch of gift certificates for your lady...... ones that she can redeem at any time......
ideas for coupons:
foot rubs with favorite lotion
leg rubs.......
dishes done
floor swept, mopped
laundry done
foot rubs
clean ALL the toilets well
brush her hair for one solid hour
two hours alone in the tub while you watch children
manicure or pedicure done by yourself
a drive in the country.....for no reason at all
these are good ideas to bless your lady......
Mike is going through high testosterone month. Everything is about weight lifting, eating right, looking in the mirror and trying to let everyone know how manly he is.
He thinks that Valentines day is a commercialised way of corporations to make money off of guys without any.
He didnt come home for lunch. Maybe he is lifting his coworkers.
sharon, when are we gonna "do lunch" together? or maybe "dinner"
what time do you get off work?
I'm getting off earlier now.......
Did you hear NO rehearsal Wednesday night???
Yesterday was long for me since I got up at 4:20 that morning and didn't get home til after 10 p.m. after John locked up the church..... there are so many young people that just don't want to leave after the services..... and that is good for them...i'm glad they have each other.....
but, i'm off today and just doing "nothing" but visiting with friends along with doing research on internet about our upcoming anniversary trip...
Josh - how's weather in Seattle end of MAY?
Rob,
I agree with the others as far as what I would want would be to spend time with you. Maybe you could get a babysitter or as Daniel say "higher a babysitter" and go somewhere nice with her.
oh daniel.... that was so funny. you have redeemed the mathews name.
and you too G... not redeeming the Mathews name. but lifting the coworkers...LOL
Click Here for Seattle averages. On the page, change the drop down menu to Daily Averages to see the daily high and low and record temp.
Summary: It’s very nice that time of year, good temps and low precipitation.
Hi, Yall have missed yall too. I am checking on between homework. I used to like it when Mike went fishing at Kingwood, Me and the girls would disappear to Deerbrook and let the guys get muddy and sling chicken livers at each other.
I have missed yall, yall have not missed yourselves, I dont think , unless yall are suffering from identity disorder, in which case I know a doctor....
Pam, can I have your phone number? I want to ask you something about a certain drug. In case you might know.
Here is my email in case you dont want to post your phone number.
You never know if hotrod or Z, or Ratking are bad people and would call you up.

I guess, you are Andy. That is really great advice Andy, those things are really bad things to do.
I would not like to be compared to mud tires

Songs go over VERY well - especially if composed by good song-writers like yourself, Rob...
You are an annointed composer...
Jess, I'll never forget the song for SUNFLOWER GIRL... when did R1 write that one? Was that 5 years ago? We had just started attending CTK at that time. Was that first sung at a Talent Show night? I was impressed. With his creative ability, but more, with this object of his affection - YOU!
A song is truly a gift to a woman... something that truly brings worth, adoration and shows love and affection.
Lindsey's beau sang her one the night of their beginning..... 11/22...
Papa JC wrote me the first one when he first committed to use the special words "I think I'm in love with you..."
JULIE UPDATE:
j's at a 6, 80% effaced... moving right along.
Pray, though, because the baby's heartrate is dropping during contractions. This happened with garret and Hannah, too... they had the cord around their necks. So just pray for that to resolve.
They've increased JDs Pitocin to speed things up.
beth,
my love language? i've never been able to figure it out...
for me???
time, yep
touch, yep (if a leg/foot rub - which takes time and acts of service)
words, yep (if a song or poem or letter written - which takes time)
service, yep (which takes time)
gifts? yep - possibly because it took time to go get them, but also because they express worth because someone was willing to 'waste' money on me..... to be extravagant in their/his love...
so, i appreciate them all and they all TOUCH me......
do you have just ONE particular love language? anyone else have comments?
fresherrain, i wrote email to you...
diamond, are you there??? haven't heard from you in a long while!!! but i have to admit you looked MAH-VELOUS last night!!
i lean heavily towards
gifts of service
as my #1 lang
I'm a bit on the "practical" side
that is what i think to give and i prefer to receive
i appreciate all 5....timing is everything
yep - time
time speaks volumes
servant? what classes are you taking right now?
i guess "acts of service" aren't my love language at home because i have a hard time getting everything done around here...... but, since I love my family, I must get off of here and do something for us all.......
love sometimes isn't fun......
I have barricaded myself in my room for 30 minutes. The young gents and the MOG are in the living room.
