I’ve had the joy of being a father for one week now. We’re very happy and Keith is doing great. It is noon and we’ve yet to shower (this wouldn’t be so bad, except that we didn’t shower yesterday either), so I’ll leave you with a short list of a few things that I’m now sure of:
-There is nothing else in life that gives you the “I think I’m in love” feeling like a 3-day-old baby’s open-eyed stare -I am forever indebted to the person that added “ringer off” options to phones -Being up from 2:00 AM – 5:30 AM has its benefits. I hadn’t seen the sun rise in a long time, but I got to see it 3 or 4 times this past week. -Raising a newborn is serious hard work! -I don’t have to read all e-mails the moment I receive them. If it’s two days before I get to them, it doesn’t make much of a difference. -The new digital camera we bought last year paid for its self this last week. (Between our camera and my mother-in-law’s camera we had 450 pictures in the first 5 days)
Please add your own things you’re sure of from having kids, in the comments.
sivad? papajc is mucho better. wed night, we sat in front of the t.v. and watched an old movie that has never been heard of or seen before... and we enjoyed ourselves with ALL THREE KIDS like we haven't done in a very very long time...
we laughed and talked and played rhythms with our hands, feet and other body parts.... we just plumb had a riot making noises with our clapping and whistling and such. he must've been feeling better by that night...but was tryint to protect his voice... i think that steroid shot he got on tues kicked in by wed night...
then, thurs night, we ALL 5 ended up home again together... it was very very nice indeed to be together... it had been too long. we all enjoy one another...
hannah and i made pizza - homemade - SCRATCH PIZZA!
we picked a rocker... but we didn't have enough room in the trunk so Richy has to take the van tomorra to get it. We did get the playpen... T is sleeping in it currently
the pastor of their church there recently told her that people were leaving the church because they didn't like the music!!! she's the worship leader! she is very sensitive, so it is very hard on her to feel responsible for people LEAVING the church! she was told that she needed to lead more upbeat songs and not so slow and thoughtful of songs....
sad for her...
she is an intercessor....and was just trying to be helpful by accepting the responsibility of leading worship there... it's a small church that's been through a lot...
i told her to talk her hubby into moving down here! they're great people!
I just made Keith smile for the first time, and he’s only 7 days old. It was totally cute and made me crack up. I had Shannon get the video camera and did it again and he smiled two more times! I was doing the make farting noise with your mouth in his stomach and shake him around thing. SO CUTE!
He just got weighed and he gained 5 oz in two days, so that’s good, but still needs to go up. No breaks from eating for Keith. To keep him awake to eat, I have to do some things that I know he’d punch me for if he were big enough, like rolling a cold apple on the bottom of his feet and back. Gotta do it folks, we need his weight to get back up. He’s a lot of fun.
Man, I’m already not looking forward to leaving Shannon and Keith and going back to work on Monday. This last week has been really great and I wish I could just stay with them. I know I work from home, so I get to see them more often, but I wish I could continue to hold him any time I wanted.
