So last night, R1 was gone.... he's got this monthly overnight meeting. So, as usual, I seized the day to watch a movie he would NEVER watch...
This time, a Hilary Duff selection....
See, honestly, I like her little teenybopper romances... they are so sweet. And I read in Sacred Romance that there is this longing in a woman's heart for romance that really is a longing for God... so that's why I love cheesy little romances...
But, yeah, watching all the extras and whatnot kept me up till almost 3. And then Toby woke up at 7 and has been playing and grunting since then... SO I just said to heck with it and got up.
Normally, I'm like a merry sunshine good morning kinda gal no matter what amount of sleep I get... I mean I wake up WIDE awake... but I'm a little bleary today...
Oh, but the new playpen is great. He was way too big for his bassinet and I have been pre-grieving moving him into his room and crib.... but the playpen has bought me some time... it has a built in bassinet that is much bigger.
R2 is pretty concerned about why can't he get in the playpen... or, as it's called these days, a playyard. Bunk. It's a pen.
Man I am a sleepy sneezy hungry little mama.
Oh, and we'll try the story experiment another day, with more rules....

Geee Whizzzzzzz
Just been gone for a few days and already I do not have a clue.
What story thing?
Happy Saturday.
I am so glad that you were able to postpone the moving him to his room thing.
Maybe wait till he sleeps for 6 solid hours....
I am enjoying a Saturday morning with my messy house.
Last weekend, I really got in the grove of cleaning and moving old memories out the door,
But this week I worked so many 10 hour days that I am exausted.
Now I don't wanna continue where I left off, and whose Idea was that anyway?
So I am resting and slowly moving towards the idea of picking up where I left off 5 long days ago.
Or I could jump in the car and go visit Pearland....and blow off this idea.
Hmm
good morning, dearies....
slow moving morning for all of us, so far... (jess napping in betwixt phrases, vkg vascillating between here or pear... me, trying to decide what needs my attention first, one end of house or the other... or all the problems in between...)
no matter what, this IS the day that our Father made... and we WILL rejoice and be glad and happy in it!
keep in touch!
I LIKED da stowy!
Are yall going to the MCF picnic tomorrow? If yall are, what are yall bringing to eat?
What would be good, but not melt from 6:30 am to 1pm? I have to be at church at 6:30 and I guess the picnic is at one.
Well, I have to leave at 6:30 I get there at 7 or 8
sheesh. I didn't even think about food... fast food
I guess fast food is the wisest choice, but Mike will not like that. I will bring him a banana and some nuts and berries.
I got a pwesent for R2
What if when you are leaving the story and not going to be back for awhile you leave some kind of notice, like signing out, so the person waiting for you to respond doesnt wait for a long time wondering.
And if you get BLOCKED out like me, you email someone and tell them.
LIke this
S.O.
an maybe an interjection symbol.... like you want to say something non-story and people should go upstairs and read it.
like ** or something
it took me 3 hours to figure out FU was Felix Unger
who was your favorite on the Odd Couple??? (speaking of Felix Unger)
was that a pre- gay type show, to get people to start accepting couples living together of the same sex? i never wouldda thought of it that way back in the 70's.... it was just two odd characters, bachelors, living with one another with all their headaches, comedies, etc...
btw, what ever happened to Felix U? Was the other guy... Quincy now? what is his real name?
i was more partial to the Quincy character, although I forget his name now...
i don't like high-strung personalities as house mate....
thankfully i live with a very middle-of-the-road type man when it comes to living habits.... very neat with his own items and routines....but not complaining of my messiness... he's also very helpful with doing laundry and helping in the kitchen. I got one of the cream of the crop!!! Sometimes I have to ASK him to STOP doing things in the kitchen because he is so RESPONSIBLE and has such a STRONG WORK ethic...
(it's hard for me to ask him to stop... i like him doing things like that...)
plus, I work FULL time (on my feet) and he sits at a desk, so it's nice to have a relationship where the man sees what needs to be done, and is sensitive to his wife's needs...
i am truly blessed...
ok, enough from me right now...
hmmm - what shall i bring to mcf picnic??? is it at same place as last year/s? hope it's not too hot!
out of groceries, so we'll probably have to buy some FRIED CHICKLIN....
what this about suicide tele? did i miss something?
yep.... the Perfect Man. It was cute
but I LOVED Cinderella Story
hi katwoman...
VKG - iT'S time for a TRIP!!!
This time I'M invited !!!
Hmmm. Let's see... We're going to_______________ where do YOU want to go...
somewhere cool
somewhere quiet
somewhere fun
somewhere north
and who do we want to go with us???
kat, i THINK i've recovered... but, today i haven't done much except laundry, cook and take a nap.... plus some surfing....
so, maybe i needed this downtime day to recover more...
i've been already thinking and planning the next "to do"...
How about a trip to Iowa....I would like to see the huge potatoe fields.....Maybe they will let us harvest some potatoes....It is getting around that time.
Potatoes grow in rows of hills...they have to keep them covered continually with dirt.
We could drive through Arkansas and Missouri and then we will be in IOWA.......
Maybe three or four day trip?
NO kids please....I do not like children in the car.....just how it is.....
I do like having road trips that are planned waaaaaayyyy ahead of time focused on KIDS.....that gets me all prepared for them.
But a spontaneous trip through three states= NO KIDS ALLOWED.
A adult only road trip is way over due...
Maybe next year for the Church picnic, we could have a pot luck picnic......
YOU KNOW>.....where everyone brings more than enough food for there bunch and we all eat a little bit of everybodies....
Maybe it is too unorganized of an atmosphere for that or something.....or maybe it is because so many people come and go at all different times maybe it wouldn't be fair cause I would get all the homemade rolls and they would be gone.
no kids, CHECK
up north, CHECK
but POTATO FARMS? and IOWA???
I thought potatoes grew in IDAHO!!!
Did you get your "I's" mixed up???
and.... about the picnic... i think with every one getting there at different times, it would be difficult...
but, I like the idea of several families putting together a type of "potluck"... where it's a bit organized and you share at the table... we've done it like that several times.
Poysonally, I never liked kids much in the car on road trips eithah....
It was okay when I had one or two very little ones.... when they were too young to put up much fuss....
but, once they got big enough to gripe a bit... it was too much for me...
in the past few years (once the kids got old enough that they didn't always accompany us on road trips) I realized that I love to travel.... (before that it was a miserable experience for me, John and them....)
All the noise (normal noise for children) really added to the road noise and the vibrations of the vehicle and sent me through the ROOF! I was a nervous wreck by the time we hit our own city limits outward bound! Didn't help that I had stayed up all night packing and/or cleaning the house. We could not...absolutely could not leave the house dirty. (Don't know where that rule came from>>>)
Ok... for pickanick...
Han and I made tuna fish salad (enough for 10)
and there are come choc cup cakes in the oven as we speak... i have some leftover frosting from several weeks ago in the refrig, so i'll take that along in the ice chest and decorate the mini cakes by request! :-)
We made two gallons of tea... sweet and unsweet...
and have 1/2 bag of cheddar Ruffles Chips...
Gotta go to store and get more chips and bread and possibly some canteloupe or watermelon immediately after church - and a bag of ice....
i'll bring paper towels and cups...
vkg - wanna join us???
you're welcome!!! we'll spread it all out on table...
soon as these cupcakes come out of oven - i'm hitting bed....
oh no... pilates are going again in the living room..
how did i develop such disciplined girls???
and here i sit....
hey, where's servant and clam today???
good night every one...
blog is too quiet on sat evenings... i guess everyone is busy...
blessings and love....
over and out..
Potatoes are grown in Idaho too.
Iowa is also a potatoe state.
Dan Quail has me all confused.
Potatoe or Potato....
Gees
vkg - the propah' spelling is
singular - potato
plural - potatoes
i don't like to eat at the place on 1960 that spells Potato incorrectly....
they spell it POTATOE PATCH with the E
if they can't get their sign right, how do we know they'll make their food correctly???
plus, everytime you turn your head, a roll comes flyin' across the room and hits you in the head!!!
btw, i looooove your new "do"...
lovely, dahling...
ok, two kids home now.... wonder where the last one is...
i'll be glad when they're all grown up and move out and i don't have to worry any more...
now, on the other hand
singular - tomato
and plural - tomatos
is that right??? or is there an E
could it beee...........
bztt
iz eet possibahl....
bzzzt
bzt
bzzzz
bzt
could it be that i may be the lsat one on heah to naght?????
zzzzzzzzzzzzzt
i go check those cupcakes and then come back to see if I'm the winnah of the most prestigous LSAT award...
sleep well, precious dreamers...
see visions and dream dreams
The same people who own Pappas seafood and Pappas BBQ own Potatoe Patch. Maybe they were really big Quail fans when they were naming the restaraunt or something like that. Or maybe the guy had a perimenopausal wife and couldn't argue with her spelling of the word or maybe it really is Potatoe and MamaPC is WRONG!
Maybe it is one of those words that can be spelt either way now because if the Vice president is instructing students then how could he be wrong.
Alot of slang words are in the dictionary now, maybe Potatoe is too.
It is weird to see a toe at the end of your potat........
How many years has the picnic been happening???
I think we Crouses have been 5 or 6 years now. Can you believe that? Time sure flies.... I still feel like a newcomer to CTK, kinda...
Did the picnic happen once at a Lake Conroe place? I didn't go that time... was that the April annual picnic? anybody have a clue...
Well, I'm glad we got a chance to mingle a bit.... Just wish the Texas heat wasn't so bad in April...
Okay, gotta put up the $200 dollars' worth of groceries!!! Our cupboards were bare!!! We didn't even have any more tea bags!!! or honey!!! or veggies or meats.... well, there were two small cans of tuna left in the pantry.... but, that was it... we'd exhausted our supply...
This should last a few weeks, I hope!
What is the average grocery bill for families these days?
I don't like to see TOE at the end of my potat.. eithah....
where was REMMERS today? anyone know. i missed his presence at the service AND the pickanicka...
I love all the information you can find on the internet. Here is the scoop on "potato or potatoe." What does the Scrabble dictionary say? Maybe Katwoman knows.
"Potatoe" is an archaic spelling of the word potato. The Oxford English Dictionary lists potatoe as a variant form, the most recent usage cited being from 1880: "She found the parson in his garden..making a potatoe pie for the winter." However, in modern English it is considered a misspelling, since although the English plural, potatoes, is spelled with an "e", the singular is not, and no dictionary considers potatoe to be an acceptable modern spelling.
Vice President of the United States Dan Quayle was notoriously associated with this misspelling in a June 15, 1992, incident that was, albeit briefly, national news in the United States as well as a source of entertainment for the tabloid newspapers in the UK.
thank you, vkg...
Mama PC,
We spent from $170 - $200 at Wal-Mart each week for groceries and household items (including pull-ups, the ocassional socks, shoes, toilet plungers, etc.) I do not even want to think about what our grocery bill will be when my kids are teenagers. As it is a 9x11 pan of enchiladas or casserole barely feeds us all. I hate to think that soon I will have to make the equivalent of two dinners for us every night.
servant
awaiting my fishing instructions via email...
josh- waiting for a report on Keith...
sorry I didn't post yesterday
Jess,
Just roll up the catfish bait into a ball, and stick it on a hook.
Put a weight on it, and a bobber, for two reasons....
#1. Catfish eat off the bottom and the weight will help the bait to rest there.
#2. Bobber is not really necessary, but it helps to see when the fish gets the bait. (bobber sinks under water)
You do not need a bobber if you plan on paying attention to how the rod feels 24/7, cause you can feel the nibbles .
Hope that helps.
I forgot how much you like to get dirty and go night fishing.
Which hole are you fishin tonight?
Catfish bait sometimes has a difficult time staying on the hook.
Fishing with a lure is more fun, if you are energetic and easily bored.
Only thing is that Catfish dont eat them....they just clean the bottom
When using a lure (spelt?) you get to pretend that you are a bug.
You cast the line and then make little tugs while you are realling it in. You try to act like a bug, and this is what I call REAL fishing cause you actually work for it, unlike sitting there reading a book waiting for the bobber to sink.
Or you could use the old fashioned worm method, and a bobber and not fish off the bottom, just fish for the fish that like to eat worms off a hook.
Don't know who they are. I only like to eat catfish.....actually farm raised catfish to be exact.. However I will eat the ones that I catch.
Worm fishing is the hardest thing in the world for me cause the worm pretends like he is in pain when he gets hooked.
Minnows do too.
Catfish bait doesn't act like anything but it stinks.....bad
I have heard that you can get a small sack of cheap no name brand dry dog food and throw it out of the boat and come back the next day to the same spot and catch lots of fish,
Just can't remember if that is for catfish or bass or trout or the worm eaters
Jess,
I've looked through the entries and have not seen anything about what was wrong with Keith. Why does JD ask if he had to stay at the hospital? Did something happen? Did he get sick? Did Josh send an e-mail to you and when did it happen?
Keith is fine everyone. Sorry Jessica, the computer stayed off all day yesterday so I just got your e-mail. We did go to the ER Saturday, at the advice of the pediatrician, to have some test ran to just check for anything physical that could be causing his weight lose (his weight went back down). All the test came back good! I’ll give more details on what we’re having to do now after I’m at work.
But for now, know that Keith is doing good. It’s really cool because we can already start to see some personality in him.
Josh,
I would think that maybe some of the reason for the weight loss is because he was SOOOOOO big at birth that he had ALOT of reserves stored up that he used up in those first few days. God created babies with the ability to nourish themselves for the first day or so (waiting for the mother's milk to come in). He is still a decent sized baby and as long as he is gaining weight now, he will be fine.
this blog stinks... no new posts...
Great to hear little Keith is doing well
FYI:
jess posted on myspace VERY EARLY this morning that she was fasting internet this week. she did say that she would make a post over here every day--but i think maybe she fell asleep--maybe she dreamed she did it.....
anyway, maybe that's why we have to post
8)
no new post...that is
aww...it's nice to be missed! I was at my grandparent's farm doing work and stuff. My lil' brother, his friend and I moved a giant oak tree that had been hit by lightning. Wow...that was alot of work. Oak always seems to be alot heavier than it looks. We ended up moving around 3-4 tons worth of wood using just a tractor chainsaw and us three guys. I got sunburned...bad. Anyway!
The ole' dog/cat food trick will get just about any kind of fish to come eat! Catfish, bass, lil perch, anything! A worm can be fished on the bottom for catfish or for perch or for whatever's there! Most fish will eat a worm, mainly because of how much they smell when they're in the water. The mucus on their skin is very water souluable and disperses catching lil fishy noses' attention. For catching catfish, I've found that good ole' chickin livers work the very best. They're a little messier but they definatly do the trick. They also don't fall apart in the water like stink bait(catfish bait) does. that stuff is basically un-dried dog food dough...but anyway...long thingy here...
REM!
I WONDERED what happened to you. Why didn't you call and inform me you were going out of town Sunday.
I found out WHERE you were when I found your Dad on a stretcher this morning, scheduled for a procedure! Man was I surprised. And you didn't even call to let me know to expect him at the hospital this morning! I tell you.... what am I to do with an ornery boy like you!!! You must keep your othah mothah informed!!!
Glad your dad is okay.
He's a really nice man. Now I know how you have turned out so nicely.
Josh and Shannon-
Ditto on what Mama3 said about weight gain/loss in first days of life... He started off nicely and has enough to spare for a few days until his weight stablizes... The pediatricians are just being extra careful to check out all possibilities... but, the signs that he's alert, and smiling and responding well, plus nursing all the time (and hopefully many wet diapers/daily) prove that he is not starving.
I'm so happy for you two! Loved the picture with the penguins!
